MMag. Regina Robanser
The meeting in Miskolc, Hungary took place from October 13th to October 17th 2025.
During the week, we took part in science workshops focusing on the structure of DNA, transcription and translation, chromatography, and electrophoresis. We did hands-on workshops on the use of micropipettes, DNA extraction, separation of plant pigments by chromatography, and food dyes by electrophoresis in laboratory conditions. The program also gave us the opportunity for a visit to the BAZ County Central Hospital and University Teaching Hospital (Department of Pathology) for a workshop on identifying cancer cells and analyzing the DNA of oncogenes using PCR and electrophoresis, as well as a study trip to Debrecen, including the Agora Science Center and the Reformed College Museum. Various group activities and a city tour of Miskolc provided us with a deeper insight into Hungarian culture. Furthermore, by staying in the school's boarding department, we gained insight into life in a dormitory school and had the opportunity to form international friendships. Throughout the project, we used English as the working language, which enabled us to improve our communication skills and learn new academic and scientific vocabulary. The meeting was completed by an evaluation and reflection of the acquired knowledge and competences.
We are looking forward to seeing our newfound friends in the meetings in Krakow and Vienna!
