Erasmus+ – Meeting in Vienna, March 31st – April 4th 2025

MMag. Regina Robanser

During the Erasmus+ 2025 week in Vienna we carried out experiments on the enzymatic degradation and fermentation of cellulose and starch in internationally mixed small groups. Thanks to presentations from students from Vienna, Hungary, Poland and India (online), we learned about the theoretical background of the experiment. After adding the enzymes cellulase and amylase respectively we measured the increasing concentration of glucose photometrically. As expected, an increase could be observed in every group. After adding yeast, the fermentation was measured by a decrease of the glucose concentration. The experiment was completed by an intense discussion of the results.

The meeting also featured a presentation and discussion on “sustainability x Vienna stock exchange” hold by Teresa Hell (Vienna Stock Exchange). To introduce the international students to Viennese culture we visited the Belvedere and the Spanish riding school and other renowned tourist destinations in Vienna. By presenting our countries and living in host families, we managed to gain a better understanding of each other.

Participants: Rebekka Minkin, Olivia Nestl-Newman (7c), Leonard Wlk (7br), Franziska Hülle, Antonia Krupop, Hanna Proksch (all 7a), Rosalinde Schlüsselberger, Emilia Voda (both 6b), Nevis Mittendorfer, Theodor Fasching, Florentin Glaser, Matthias Lanz (all 5c), Julia Eidkum (4c)
